The Hunter Valley is a large area with much to see and do. The key to enjoying a fantastic Hunter Valley wine experience is to relax and take your time.
Here are some tips to make the most of your time in Hunter Valley:
- Collaborate with me to curate your itinerary, and keep in mind that some of the wineries require a tasting and/or tour reservation that we’ll need to make in advance of your visit.
- Hiring a car is the best option for exploring the Hunter Valley at your own pace. Alternatively, you can opt for a group wine tour that will take you to the best wineries and cellar doors in the region.
- Don’t be afraid to try something new. Many of the wineries offer tastings of lesser-known varietals, and this can be an excellent opportunity to discover new favorites.
- Spend a day at a spa or wellness center to rejuvenate after a day of sightseeing and winetasting.
- Take a cooking class to learn more about the area’s cuisine and pairing with the local wines.
Hunter Valley’s Famous Wines
Hunter Valley is known for producing some of Australia’s best wines. The region is particularly famous for its Semillon, Chardonnay, Verdelho, and Shiraz wines.
Verdelho wine is a dry white wine with bright acidity and tropical fruit flavors of passionfruit, pineapple, and guava. This grape variety thrives in the warmer climate and mineral-rich soils of the region.
