Whether it is golf holidays, guided journeys, wine wanderings, wildlife adventures, or cultural attractions— or all of the above— Australia has it all, in each of its seven territories: New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory, and Queensland.
Today’s discerning traveler is seeking out memorable and engaging experiences which tap into their passion points and help them connect with a destination on a deeper emotional and personal level. In this quick read, I’ll start to touch on when and where you can take advantage of all that Australia has to offer.
When to Go
Australia is roughly equivalent to the US in size with many variations in climate. Summer, the rainy season in the tropical north, lasts from December to February. November to March is the hottest, while Spring and Autumn are mild and the best time for bush walks. Winter (June to August) is mild with snow in the southern mountains and balmy temperatures in the north.
Australian Wildlife

Western Australia is the go-to for seeing whale sharks and humpback whales along with black-footed rock wallabies in the Ningaloo Reef area.

If crocodiles, fishing trips, and safaris are more your style, then you’ll want to make sure to spend time in the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory.
Probably listed as a must-see on most visitors’ list is the Great Barrier Reef found in Queensland, but you should also add the Whitsunday Islands and the Daintree Rainforest while there.

And who wouldn’t want to spend some time with the 140 bottlenose dolphins in residence in Port Stephens in New South Wales? You can also have some time with Koalas, penguins, and fur seals while in the territory.

When time permits, you should find your way over to Tasmania, which reserves 40% of its landmass as a national park and world heritage wilderness.
